Erotic or tantric massage: how they differ
The terms are used as synonyms, but they’re not. This is the real difference, told by the person who gives them every day.
First-time callers usually say, “I want a massage, the normal one.” And there isn’t a normal one: there are four quite different ways of working the body, and choosing the wrong one is the difference between leaving delighted or leaving thinking you’ve come to the wrong place.
Erotic massage
It’s the umbrella term: a body massage where sensuality is part of the technique. It can be given on a massage table or on a tatami, with more or less body-to-body contact, and it can end with a manual release. When someone looks for “erotic massage”, this is usually what they want: a full massage with a finish.
Choose it if you have a clear idea and want something direct, without ritual.
Tantric massage
It shares technique with the erotic massage, but the purpose changes: the tantric works on the breath, the slow build-up and the contained energy. It rises and falls several times instead of going straight ahead. The erotic component exists, but it is at the service of relaxation, not the other way round.
Choose it if you arrive with a racing mind, if it's your first time or if you're more interested in the journey than the destination. It needs at least 60 minutes.
Nuru massage
The nuru is body-to-body contact taken to the extreme: nori seaweed gel on both bodies and zero friction. It's the most physical of all and the most surprising, because it's unlike anything you've tried before.
Choose it if you're after pure sensation and you don't mind it being intense from the first minute.
Body to body
It's not a separate massage, it's a technique: the masseuse uses her body as well as her hands, with oil. It appears within the erotic massage on tatami, the premium and the nuru. If they offer it “on its own”, ask in what format and for how long.
